Get to know Shaniqua J. Anum, MD
Dr. Shaniqua Anum completed her pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship training in 2022. Dr. Anum has had clinical and research interests in childhood blood disorders since medical school. Her decision to become a hematologist began in medical school, with her unique interests in clinical pathology, physiology, and improving health outcomes in underserved and ethnic minority populations. These interests combined with her research and personal family experiences with sickle cell disease solidified her commitment to seek a career in pediatric hematology.
As a pediatric resident, she had extensive experiences taking care of children and young adults with cancer, blood disorders, and bone marrow/stem cell transplants - both in the hospital and in clinic. She has clinical research experience in sickle cell disease and has been mentored by leaders in the field.
Following her fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology, Dr. Anum continues to gain experience and expertise treating children with these conditions. She has treated children with a wide range of cancer and blood disorders, including: leukemia/lymphoma, solid tumors, bone cancer, brain tumors, bleeding and clotting disorders, anemia, neutropenia, sickle cell disease, and thalassemia. Her goal is to become a researcher, an innovator, and a leader in the field of pediatric hematology in order to improve the lives of children and young adults with blood disorders - in the United States and worldwide.
