Personal Statement
Sarah is a speech language pathologist in the Speech, Language, and Learning Department at Texas Children’s Hospital-Medical Center Campus who works primarily with patients with voice disorders. Sarah is part of a multidisciplinary Voice Team which provides evaluations for patients with voice concerns. She also provides voice therapy for patients to habilitate/rehabilitate their vocal potential. In addition to working in the Voice Clinic, Sarah works closely with the Pulmonary Medicine and Asthma Clinic to evaluate and treat patients with Irritable Larynx Syndrome (Paradoxical Vocal Fold Motion/Chronic Cough). She also participates in Tracheostomy Team Rounds, providing a collaborative approach to ensure hospitalized patients with tracheostomies have access to services to address their communicative and swallowing needs. This includes identifying patients who may be appropriate candidates for use of a speaking valve.
Sarah is committed to providing the best possible care to patients with voice disorders, whether it be guiding them in accessing their best possible voice or assisting them in retraining their breathing pattern so that they can fully return to their sport.
