Get to know Rona Y. Sonabend, MD
Dr. Rona Sonabend serves as the Division Chief of Pediatric Diabetes and Endocrinology at Texas Children’s Hospital. The division, which is currently ranked #2 by U.S. News & World Report, is staffed by over 43 faculty, 12 fellows and numerous multidisciplinary staff who conduct clinical care, education and research across the Houston and Austin metropolitan areas.
Dr. Sonabend serves as the Associate Vice Chair of Ambulatory for Department of Pediatrics as well as the Associate Quality Officer for the Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Sonabend's philosophy towards healthcare is combining the science of medicine with the art of care delivery in a patient-centered quality driven manner.
After receiving her MD from The University of Texas-Houston Medical School in 2002, she completed pediatric residency training (2005) and a pediatric endocrinology fellowship (2008) at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital. Dr. Sonabend joined the faculty at Baylor College of Medicine in 2008.
