Research interests
Dr. Srivaths' research focus is investigating cardiovascular morbidity associated with end stage renal disease (ESRD) in children. He and his colleagues have shown that cardiac calcifications are highly prevalent children receiving chronic hemodialysis. They have also shown novel associations of newer markers of mineral imbalance such as FGF 23 to be associated with cardiac calcifications. He has started studying potential role of modality differences in prevalence of cardiac calcifications, expanding this research to assess cardiac calcifications in children receiving peritoneal dialysis and is also undertaking a project comparing calcifications and vascular compliance in children with ESRD.
