Personal Statement
I believe that, at their core, people are strong and resilient, are able to make meaning of their lives, to utilize the spiritual and emotional supports that are familiar to them, and to find their own answers to life’s dilemmas. But during times of crisis, such as the illness of a child, support may be needed to help them utilize their spiritual and emotional resources. Visits from a chaplain can invite them into a sacred space, create room for spiritual dialog and serve as a reminder that God is present in a difficult time. The profound dignity of each human person grounds my ministry, so working with people of all faiths is a privilege and deeply enriches my own life and faith. When we can join in prayer and are fully present to each other, bridges are built, love is multiplied, community is created and we are more aware of how God is shaping the present moment.
