Personal Statement
Dr. Racine is a psychologist within the Autism Program at Texas Children’s who specializes in the assessment and treatment of children with neurodevelopmental differences. She provides comprehensive psychological evaluations to children and adolescents and is trained to use a wide range of standardized assessment measures, including the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition. In addition to assessment services, Dr. Racine also provides behavioral intervention to preschool age children with autism spectrum disorder and co-occurring behavioral difficulties, including tantrums, aggression, noncompliance, sleep difficulties and toileting concerns. She utilizes evidence-based practices, including applied behavior analysis and parent management training, while taking a flexible treatment approach to meet each child’s and family’s individual needs. Dr. Racine also has expertise in using exposure-based cognitive behavioral therapy and parent management training to address anxiety disorders in youth with autism spectrum disorder.
Dr. Racine values family-centered and culturally informed care that considers an individual’s unique strengths and challenges, and family, school, and community factors to address the whole system. She believes in working collaboratively with parents and caregivers to develop meaningful and attainable treatment goals focused on decreasing challenging behaviors, improving positive skills and strengthening the parent-child relationship. Throughout treatment, Dr. Racine aims to teach parents skills that they can realistically implement in their daily lives and hopes that parents feel confident in their ability to manage their child’s behavior and handle future challenges once treatment has ended.
