Get to know Kamusisi Chinyundo, MBChB, MMED(PAEDS)
Dr. Kamusisi Chinyundo is a pediatrician in Botswana working with the Global Hematology-Oncology Pediatric Excellence (HOPE) program.
He completed undergraduate degrees in Medicine and Surgery, followed by a Masters of Pediatrics and Child Health at the University of Zambia School of Medicine in Lusaka, Zambia. He also has a postgraduate diploma in Pediatric Palliative Care Medicine from Hospice Africa Uganda in collaboration with Makerere University. He worked briefly at University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka before moving to Trinidad & Tobago, where he worked as general pediatrician at a district hospital in Chaguanas. He then joined the Baylor International Pediatric AIDS Initiative (BIPAI) in 2016, working for a year in the pediatric HIV program in Gaborone as a Global Health Corps physician. He transitioned in 2017 to a full-time role with the Global Hematology-Oncology Pediatric Excellence (HOPE) program. He has a passion for caring for children with palliative care needs and also enjoys teaching medical students.
Dr. Chinyundo leads pediatric palliative care efforts for Global HOPE in Botswana, which encompasses not only children with hematologic and oncologic conditions, but also any child with a life-threatening illness at Princess Marina Hospital.
