Get to know Jose M. Teran, MD
Dr. Teran's research is focused on understanding the effect the circadian rhythm has over the different inflammatory and immunologic mediators, as well as on lung function, in children with asthma who predominately have nocturnal symptoms. He is looking at differences among groups of milder compared to more severe asthmatics, and how they correlate. His group is also interested in assessing behavioral patterns, attention span, and cognitive ability in children with nocturnal asthma. Dr. Teran's work is focused on the treatment of children suffering from diverse respiratory conditions, in particular children with asthma and cystic fibrosis, as well as on patient and family education of these diseases. Dr. Teran's philosophy of care is to put the well being of patient and family, as well as knowledge and self management of their particular illness, as a priority.
