Get to know Giles W. Vick, MD
Dr. Vick's principal areas of interest are in cardiovascular imaging and molecular biology. He was trained as a biomedical engineer and holds a Ph.D. in cell physiology. Following his pediatric residency, he completed subspecialty fellowships pediatric cardiology and cardiovascular cardiac magnetic resonance imaging. He is an experienced echocardiographer and has described many of the echocardiographic methods now in common use. He has developed advanced techniques for cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging and has acquired extensive clinical expertise in this area.
Dr. Vick's clinical research is directed primarily at improving echocardiographic and magnetic resonance methods for evaluation of congenital and acquired cardiovascular disease. His molecular biology research investigates the fundamental mechanisms responsible for congenital heart disease and potential avenues for producing cardiac regeneration.
