Personal Statement

Striving to increase access to quality care for a variety of families, I have participated in extensive hands on training and continuing education courses and achieved specialized skills for working with children who have hearing loss, performing videofluoroscopic evaluations of swallowing, evaluating and treating infants with feeding-swallowing difficulties, patients with tracheostomies, and providing services to the Spanish speaking/bilingual population. 

I have been a Speech Language Pathologist working with the families of infants and children with communication and feeding-swallowing difficulties since 2006. I've been with upWORDS since initial cohort in 2016. I also provide specialized lectures on bilingualism and feeding development for families. I have had the opportunity to provide speech evaluations and therapy services to children with a variety of diagnoses. 

Clinical Interests:

Working with Spanish speaking/bilingual population, feeding-swallowing to include but not limited to videofluoroscopic assessment, evaluating and treating children with tracheostomies, hearing loss, and parent education via upWORDS program 

Research Interests:

Facilitating recruitment of participants and data collection in order to measure the effects of family participation in the upWORDS Baby and Toddler program via research study with IRB approval
