Brie Latimore is a senior speech-language pathologist and board-certified specialist in swallowing and swallowing disorders at Texas Children’s Hospital. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders and her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Brie has years of experience in the assessment and treatment of swallowing disorders among pediatric patients with a variety of medical diagnoses within the acute and critical care setting. Her primary clinical focus is pediatric dysphagia and developmental care with a focus in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Her passion for this population led her to obtain specialty certification in neonatal therapy, neonatal touch and massage and lactation counseling to offer additional levels of care to her patients. She is also a strong advocate for breastfeeding of medically complex and fragile infants. Brie enjoys interdisciplinary collaboration with all members of the medical team to ensure appropriate management of pediatric feeding and swallowing in addition to developmental milestones supporting feeding skill acquisition. She is committed to advancing the knowledge base of students and other health professionals and has lectured at the local, state, and national level. She empowers future speech-language pathologists through annual presentations to undergraduate and graduate students in diversity programs.
