Get to know Ashley Sims, BSN, CCRN, C-NPT
As a Chicago native, my career began as a postpartum/newborn nursery nurse. As my interests expanded, I transitioned over to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), where my enthusiasm for caring for premature babies and their families grew. I moved to Texas in 2014, where I continued to work in a high acuity NICU in the Dallas area. During my time there, I expanded my nursing role into becoming a neonatal transport nurse, bringing in acutely ill neonates from other hospitals via helicopter and ambulance. My career at Texas Children’s Hospital began in 2018, when I had the opportunity to join the Kangaroo Crew Intensive Care Transport Team. I brought critically ill babies, children and high risk OB mothers to Texas Children's Hospital from all over the nation for expert care. From that role, I transitioned over to the Fetal Center in 2020 after learning about the comprehensive care and the full spectrum of fetal therapies that we offer our families. My previous experiences allow me to provide my patients with a broad and unique perspective on care for their baby during pregnancy and after birth. My goal is to educate, advocate and empower each family I work with!
