Texas Children's Hospital Center for Vaccine Development is dedicated to the discovery and development of vaccines against neglected tropical diseases and other emerging infectious diseases.
The center has developed vaccines against COVID-19 and SARS.
The center has developed vaccines against hookworm and schistosomiasis that are currently in clinical trials. In earlier stages of development are vaccines against onchocerciasis, leishmaniasis, Chagas disease, West Nile Virus, and Chikungunya. In discovery stages, the center is working on a vaccine that would prevent the three major soil-transmitted helminths - hookworm, Ascaris and Trichuris.
