HOUSTON - (June 9, 2015) - Texas Children's Hospital consistently ranks as a national leader among all pediatric hospitals by U.S. News World Report. In their 2015-16 edition of Best Children's Hospitals, Texas Children's ranked fourth among all 184 pediatric institutions surveyed. One of only 12 hospitals to achieve the Honor Roll designation nationally, Texas Children's is the only hospital in Texas awarded this distinction. "These rankings continue to reflect what we already know, the trajectory of Texas Children's Hospital is absolutely incredible," says Mark A. Wallace, president and CEO of Texas Children's. "In our relatively short 60 year history we have achieved amazing feats. Through the commitment and enthusiasm our staff and employees display each and every day for our mission, we have become, and will continue to be, one of the preeminent resources for health and hope to all children and their families."
Each year, U.S. News not only ranks pediatric hospitals overall, but also ranks the top 50 pediatric hospitals across 10 major subspecialties. This year, Texas Children's ranks in the top five in six subspecialties, three of which rank second nationally. Receiving high rankings in a minimum of three specialties qualifies Texas Children's for the 2015-16 Best Children's Hospitals Honor Roll, a distinction awarded to only 12 pediatric hospitals nationwide.
With the incredible partnership of academic affiliate Baylor College of Medicine, Texas Children's continues to advance pediatric health care worldwide and earns the Honor Roll distinction by ranking among America's best in, among other subspecialties:
- #2 Cardiology and heart surgery
- #2 Neurology and neurosurgery
- #2 Pulmonology
- #3 Urology
- #4 Cancer
- #4 Nephrology (kidney disorders)
- #10 Diabetes and endocrinology
These rankings are the result of a methodology that weighs a combination of outcome and care-related measures such as nursing care, advanced technology, credentialing, outcomes, best practices, infection prevention, and reputation, among other factors.
