The Society for Neuroscience interviews Dr. John Swann on pediatric epilepsy

Dr. John Swann is a professor at the Baylor College of Medicine, co-Director of the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute and the Scientific Director of the Gordon and Mary Cain Pediatric Neurology Research Foundation labs at the Texas Children’s hospital,

He has led various research studies in childhood epileptic disorders for more than 30 years and is the former president of the American Epilepsy Society. Extensive preclinical cellular and animal studies conducted under his supervision culminated in the identification of a rapamycin analog, everolimus that effectively reduced seizures in a FDA-approved trial of Tuberous Sclerosis patients.

Society for Neuroscience recently interviewed Dr. Swann and other prominent neuroscientists for an article that informs the general public on pediatric epilepsy.
