Congratulations to the latest Texas Children’s Hospital Bravo Award winners: Allegra Abbey Berckmoes, Melanie Ambat, Christina Andrew-Barnett, Jennifer Hinojosa, Katie Smith, Tori Stovall and Patrictia Wright. Bravo Awards are given each quarter to recognize staff who go above and beyond for patients and colleagues.

- Allegra Abbey Berckmoes, Child Life Activity Coordinator – Allegra is an inspiration through her mentorship of college interns and high school volunteers. Her contributions in the clinic make the days easier for patients and families.
- Melanie Ambat, RN – Melanie is an outstanding example of a patient advocate. She excels at tactfully navigating difficult discussions, and her grace in stressful situations has made her a role model for junior nurses.
- Christina Andrew-Barnett, MHA, BS – As part of the sickle cell team, Christina has made tremendous contributions, including leading quality improvement initiatives, and follow-up initiatives with families.
- Jennifer Hinojosa, RN - Described as the “glue” that holds the solid tumor team together, Jennifer is an expert at anticipating patients needs and barriers. She steps up to help wherever needed, and recently organized a last-minute Make-A-Wish trip for a patient.
- Katie Smith, RN – Katie is a shining example of how to best manage and prioritize patient needs and related tasks. Known for her positive attitude, she also excels at mentoring graduate students.
- Tori Stovall, RN – Known for her organizational skills, Tori exhibits outstanding out-of-the-box thinking and leaves no stone unturned when helping patients. As a Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Instructor, she mentors the next generation of medical professionals.
- Patrictia Wright, CMA – An excellent problem solver, Patrictia is known for her conflict resolution skills. She always goes the extra mile, and recently helped plan and execute a bell ringing ceremony.
