Jhett’s Patient Story

During his 6-year-long wait in Houston to receive his second heart transplant, Jhett had to find a hobby to stay busy and take his mind off of the long wait. Away from his mom and sister back home in Oklahoma, Jhett and his dad discovered that golf was something they could enjoy together – and that Jhett would be allowed to do with his medical restrictions. Jhett won his first golf tournament when he was just 7 years old, and he and his dad played every week until they received the call that his new heart was available. Just a few days after receiving his second heart transplant in 2018, Jhett was out of bed and putting toy golf balls in the hallways of the Transplant unit. Now, 17-year-old Jhett plays on his high school golf team and credits golf with getting him through some of the toughest times in his and his family’s lives.
