Personal Statement

My goal as a social worker is to establish close relationships with patients and their family members based on trust, compassion, and open communication. I recognize that all families have individual values and experiences that should be taken into careful consideration during hospitalization and subsequent decision making. I am committed to cultivating a space where families can celebrate highs and process lows comfortably and honestly with each other and with their providers. It is an honor to provide my support to each and every patient and family I meet at Texas Children’s.

Clinical Interests: anticipatory grief, bereavement, adolescent palliative care, shared decision making, total pain

Research Interests: palliative care education in healthcare and public settings, best communication practices in end-of-life care and support, family systems theory in palliative care
