Personal Statement
As a pediatric nurse practitioner, I believe in providing patient-centered care that allows families to have a better quality of life. Care provided by the entire medical team, including the patient’s parent or caretaker, ensures the best clinical decisions to enable the child to reach his or her full potential. I believe education is the most powerful tool in providing health care, and I take pride in my ability to teach families about their child’s illness and encourage them to be engaged in the plan of care to the best of their abilities.
Clinical Interests
I specialize in pediatric pulmonary hypertension. I previously worked in the pediatric intensive care unit as a registered nurse for 5 years. Caring for extremely ill patients has allowed me to understand the multi-disciplinary team approach to health care and strengthened my ability to communicate with parents about their ill child.
Research Interests
Exploring ways to ensure activities of daily living are able to be performed by patients living with pulmonary hypertension, including limiting medication side effects and exploring ways to make medical equipment more user-friendly.
