Areas of research

In addition to providing expert trauma care, our Trauma Center team actively leads and participates in research to help improve trauma treatment and outcomes for children of all ages.

With world-renowned pediatric trauma experts, as well as leading pediatric subspecialists in every field of medicine, our team is uniquely positioned to push the boundaries of treatment protocols to provide the best future possible for our patients.

Current studies

Our trauma team is dedicated to advancing pediatric trauma, surgical and critical care practices through innovative research. Our studies explore a wide range of critical topics, including optimizing trauma care outcomes at pediatric hospitals, assessing care and equity in traumatic brain injury treatment and evaluating the performance of noninvasive monitoring devices. We’re also investigating lifesaving interventions like retrograde endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta and whole blood transfusions. Additionally, our research focuses on pediatric cervical spine clearance, the impact of massive blood product transfusions and the role of protein optimization in wound healing and recovery.

We’re also participating in TRACK-Peds, a simulation-based program enhancing trauma education for pediatric and emergency medicine residents

Through these studies, we aim to refine treatment protocols, improve patient outcomes and set new standards for pediatric trauma care.
