The nine-bedroom Ronald McDonald House is located on the 5th floor of the Outpatient Building next to the elevators.

The Heart Cart is another amenity that the Ronald McDonald House provides at Texas Children’s Hospital Austin. Multiple times each week, the carts provide free comfort and care items directly to hospitalized children and their families at the bedside. These include toiletries, meals, snacks, toys, blankets and other items.
How to Stay with Us
To stay in the Ronald McDonald House at Texas Children’s Hospital Austin, families must be referred by their social work team based on family needs. Families must have a patient 21 years of age or younger who is being treated at Texas Children’s Austin and live more than 25 miles from the hospital. Overnight bedrooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Day passes are also available by referral only for Texas Children’s Hospital Austin families needing the amenities and support of the Ronald McDonald House without being assigned a bedroom. Day passes are intended for families awaiting overnight room placement or those who do not need overnight lodging. Volunteer to Cook a Meal
Through our Meals from the Heart Program, volunteer groups of up to four people can sign up to cook dinner for our families in the Ronald McDonald House at Texas Children’s Hospital Austin. The meal shift is from 4 pm to 6 pm and is hosted directly in the kitchen at the Ronald McDonald House at Texas Children’s Hospital Austin.
Donate Supplies

Volunteer
Volunteers can make an enormous difference in the lives of our patients' families. Volunteer tasks at the Ronald McDonald House at Texas Children’s Hospital Austin include pushing the Heart Cart, welcoming and checking in families to their rooms, light cleaning and organizing, answering phones, and staffing the front desk at the House.
