Pediatric cancer grants awarded

Awards

Dr. Andras Heczey, associate professor of pediatrics hematology and oncology, was awarded a $800,000 grant from Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for his project, Synthetic gene expression regulator switches (SynGERS) expressed in CAR T cells to cure children with solid tumors.

Dr. Debananda Pati, professor of pediatrics hematology and oncology, was awarded a $1.5 million grant from the United States Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (Department of Defense) for his project, Development of novel separase inhibitors from the natural products to treat refractory breast cancers.

Dr. Pavel Sumazin, an associate professor of pediatrics hematology and oncology, was awarded an R21 grant from the National Institutes of Health for his project, Discovery of chemoresistant tumor subclones in pediatric liver cancers.
