Taylor identifies new immunotherapy approaches to medulloblastoma

Awards

Findings published in Cell led by Dr. Michael Taylor identified a population of stem-like cells that initiate and maintain Group 3 medulloblastoma in the developing brain.

The team found that the cancer stem-like cells, which express the protein Protogenin, are localized to a specific brain region in the cerebellum called the rhombic lip.

In a preclinical model of Group 3 medulloblastoma, the team targeted these stem-like cancer cells using CAR T-cell immunotherapy, producing effective therapeutic results.
