Events Bad Pants Open

Welcome to the 27th Annual Bad Pants Open!

Wear Your Worst. Play Your Best. Help NICU Families Thrive.

Monday, November 10, 2025

Get ready to dust off your boldest, brightest — and yes, your worst — golf pants! Join us on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Champions Golf Club for one of Houston’s most spirited charity golf events.

Now in its 27th year, the Bad Pants Open supports life-changing programs for patients and families in Texas Children’s Newborn Center® and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) — one of the nation’s leading centers for the care of critically ill newborns.

Whether you’re a long-time supporter or a first-time participant, every swing you take helps ensure NICU families receive the compassion, comfort, and support they need when facing one of life’s most challenging journeys.

What the Bad Pants Open supports

When a newborn requires intensive medical care, it can turn a family’s world upside down. At Texas Children’s, we know that healing a tiny patient means caring for the whole family. Proceeds from the Bad Pants Open support vital programs and services across all of Texas Children’s NICUs — Main Campus, The Woodlands, and Austin — ensuring that every NICU family receives expert medical care along with compassion and support to navigate the emotional and practical challenges of a NICU stay.

Here are just a few of the ways your participation makes a difference:

AngelEye: Keeping families connected to their babies

Launched with support from the Bad Pants Fund, AngelEye is a secure, live-stream video system that provides parents with 24/7 visual access to their NICU baby, right from their phone or personal device — even when they are unable to be bedside.

This simple yet powerful tool eases the heartache of separation and brings parents peace of mind when they need it most. AngelEye is now available in:

  • Texas Children’s Main Campus NICU (173 beds)

  • Texas Children’s Hospital Austin NICU (12 beds)

  • Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands NICU (14 beds)

Hand to Hold: Support for every NICU family

Also sustained by the Bad Pants Fund, Hand to Hold offers compassionate, personalized support for NICU families — delivered by those who truly understand.

Seven multilingual, certified Peer Support Specialists — all former NICU parents themselves — provide 70+ hours of in-person support each week across our NICUs. Families also receive 24/7 access to a wealth of virtual resources, including:

  • A free Hand to Hold app

  • Private online communities

  • Virtual support groups

  • Educational resources & podcasts

  • Peer mentoring

  • Professional counseling

Family-centered essentials

The Bad Pants Open also helps fund everyday essentials that ease stress and uplift families during their NICU stay, including:

  • Parking assistance and Lyft rides to and from the hospital

  • Meal vouchers to help ease daily food costs

  • Milestone beads to celebrate every small victory in a baby’s NICU journey

  • Parent backpacks filled with comforting essentials and helpful resources

Why your support matters

Texas Children’s Newborn Center is one of the largest and most advanced NICUs in the world — but even the best medical care isn’t enough when families are facing uncertainty, fear, and financial strain.

That’s why your participation in the Bad Pants Open matters. You help ensure that every NICU family is supported, empowered, and nurtured — both inside and outside the hospital walls.

Together, we can make their journey a little easier and their babies’ futures a little brighter.
