Custom Cleats Help Mark Emotional Victory at Texas Children’s Houston Open

Health Briefs

The custom cleats Ceci Trevino designed for professional golfer Gary Woodland during the Texas Children’s Houston Open represented far more than a shared love of golf. A recent ABC13 Houston segment highlights how the two bonded over their shared journeys with brain tumors.

Ceci and Gary are both brain tumor survivors. Ceci received emergency treatment at Texas Children’s when she was eight years old, while Gary has been navigating recovery following surgery in 2023.

Gary ultimately went on to win the Texas Children’s Houston Open, marking his first tournament victory since his brain tumor diagnosis. After the final round, Ceci was there on the green to personally help deliver his trophy — celebrating not only the win itself, but everything it represented for Gary.

“It’s just really special because he definitely shows others that nothing’s impossible, because it’s difficult to go through what he went through,” Ceci shared. “I’m just really proud of him, and I’m happy to be on his team.”
