Meet our latest Bravo Award winners! These quarterly awards honor staff at Texas Children’s Cancer & Hematology Center who go above and beyond in advancing care for children with cancer and blood disorders.

From clinical excellence to creative healing, this group (pictured L–R, top to bottom rows) exemplifies the heart of our mission:

Artur Gonzales, RN, Outpatient Infusion Center, Main Campus – Known as “the master at handling unexpected complications,” Artur brings a can-do attitude and creative problem-solving to every shift. He also helped a patient throw the first pitch at the 2025 Derricks & Diamonds Tournament.

Joy Griggsby, LCSW (not pictured), Main Campus – Led a data-driven initiative to expand mental health support for long-term survivors and earned certification to train junior social workers.

Carol Herron, Periwinkle Arts in Medicine Coordinator, Main Campus – Brightens hospital stays through art, music and writing, supporting emotional healing and creative expression.

Michelle Nguyen, RN, Main Campus – Coordinates care and emotional support for histiocytosis patients, including adults, ensuring continuity and compassionate follow-up.

David Ross, PharmD, Specialty Pharmacist, The Woodlands – Troubleshoots complex medication access issues with empathy and persistence, earning deep gratitude from families.

Amy Valdez, MSN, RN, CPN, Assistant Clinical Director, West Campus – Strengthens ambulatory care through structured improvements, while leading with empathy, adaptability and a collaborative spirit.

Jessica Wu, Cytogenetic Lab Tech II, Main Campus – Covers wet lab duties, ensures fast turnaround times, and trains fellows, students and new employees with precision and care.
