Core Labs Leica Microsystems Center of Excellence at the Duncan NRI

<h1 class=Leica Microsystems Center of Excellence at the Duncan NRI" />

The Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute (NRI) and Leica Microsystems established the Leica Microsystems Center of Excellence at the NRI in September 2019. The Center supports new discoveries and insights from research using cutting-edge confocal microscopy technology. Specifically, the Center includes Leica confocal, Deep In Vivo Explorer (DIVE) (multi-photon), as well as STED (Stimulated Emission Depletion) super-resolution microscopy systems to capture dynamic processes at the molecular level, and Leica Aivia software for imaging analysis. We can conduct experiments both in fixed and live cells and tissues, and in live animals (using two-photon). In detail, these solutions can be used for high and/or super-resolution optical sectioning of fluorescent tissue, in-vitro or in-vivo  time-lapse imaging, tile scanning and stitching of composite images. Plus, 3D imaging reconstruction of biological tissue/cells, FRAP, FRET, and bleaching. The Center advances efforts to better understand how changes in brain cells drive behavior and allows us to help and train colleagues across the Texas Medical Center and beyond. The Center also provides valuable feedback necessary to drive innovation in software, systems, and workflow solutions while informing the development of new applications and advanced imaging and analysis techniques.
