Get to know Danitza M. Nébor, PhD
Dr. Danitza Nébor is an Instructor in the Department of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine with a longstanding interest in the pathophysiology of sickle cell disease (SCD). Her mission is to develop new therapeutic strategies that will be accessible and affordable to every patient with SCD.
Dr. Nébor earned her PhD in France where she evaluated the role of microparticles, genetic modifiers and the autonomic nervous system on patients' inflammatory state, vaso-occlusion and chronic complications. She then moved to the United States to join the Jackson Laboratory where she received a strong formal training and became an expert in mouse handling, surgeries, biomethods and colony management.
Dr. Nébor's current research focuses on the identification of new treatments to improve SCD outcomes and the generation of new mouse models that will be important resources for the scientific community.
