[person:personal_statement]
I believe the best care for a newborn starts with a partnership with the family. As neonatologists, we take care of babies at the most fragile moments of their lives. And we treat parents as essential members of the care team, keeping them informed, listening to their concerns and involving them in every decision about their child’s treatment.
I was born in New York City, raised in Puerto Rico and lived all over the world during my Air Force career. This international exposure has given me a deep appreciation for the diverse backgrounds of the families we serve.
I believe that straightforward communication and a calm, steady presence are as important as clinical expertise during a family’s time in the NICU. Our dedicated Neonatology team at Texas Children’s North Austin provides high-quality, evidence-based, compassionate care.
