Awards

Two Cain Laboratories faculty members have been selected to receive FY2027 Nancy Chang, Ph.D. Awards for Research Excellence through Baylor College of Medicine.

Dr. Vishnu Cuddapah was awarded funding for his project, “Diurnal Timers of Neurological Disease,” which will advance our understanding of how biological timing mechanisms influence the onset and progression of epilepsy and other neurological disorders.

Dr. Xiangling Meng was awarded funding for her project, “Defining Cellular and Molecular Mechanisms of SYNCRIP-Related Neurodevelopmental Disorder Using Patient iPSC-Derived Brain Organoids.” This work will leverage patient-derived iPSC organoid models to investigate the disease mechanisms underlying SYNCRIP-related neurodevelopmental disorders. Epilepsy is a recognized feature of SYNCRIP-related disorders.

These awards recognize novel and innovative high-impact research of outstanding investigators. We are delighted to see Drs. Cuddapah and Meng recognized for the exceptional quality and promise of their work.
