[person:personal_statement]
I am deeply committed to caring for children with heart disease and to supporting their families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. I believe that excellent care goes beyond medical decision-making. It requires clear communication, active listening and genuine partnership with families.
In the CICU, families are often overwhelmed, frightened, and navigating uncertainty. I see it as both a responsibility and a privilege to guide them through that journey with transparency, compassion and steady leadership. One of the most meaningful aspects of my work is witnessing a child’s journey from severe, life-threatening illness to a point of stability and strength where they are ready to leave the ICU. Being part of that transformation and sharing that moment of progress with families is profoundly gratifying and continually reaffirms why I chose this field.
