[person:personal_statement]
Throughout my career, I have intentionally pursued opportunities to grow as both a clinician and an educational leader. I am committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to ill and injured children in the Emergency Centers at Texas Children’s Hospital’s Texas Medical Center, West Campus and The Woodlands locations.
I am also committed to advancing my expertise in curriculum development, learner assessment, mentorship and educational scholarship.
· At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, I co-founded the Next Gen Pediatricians (NGP) program, which is a national virtual mentorship initiative supporting students underrepresented in medicine. NGP now serves over 100 medical students annually. As an executive board member, I focus on expanding program reach, strengthening mentorship infrastructure and advancing scholarly dissemination.
· As a faculty member in Baylor College of Medicine’s Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, I am actively engaged in undergraduate and graduate medical education. I teach simulation-based curricula to pediatric and emergency medicine residents, serve as a resident society advisor, and contribute to trainee assessment as a member of the Pediatric Residency Clinical Competency Committee. At the undergraduate medical education level, I am a member of the Academy of Clinical Teaching and Assessment.
· I also serve as the Associate Departmental Lead Elective Officer for the Baylor’s Department of Pediatrics. In this role, I oversee the development, coordination, and quality improvement of medical student electives; collaborate with institutional partners to ensure alignment with the Liaison Committee on Medical Education and institutional standards; and support elective directors in delivering high-quality educational experiences for both local and visiting students.
· Additionally, I direct the Radiology Rounds curriculum for Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellows.
