Get to know Phillip "Bucky" Ribbeck, MD
Dr. Bucky is a Houston native (Strake Jesuit grad) who grew up playing every sport he could before falling in love with baseball. His love for sports—and his many injuries in his youth—led him to pursue a career in sports medicine so that he could spend his productive years getting youth athletes back in action and performing at their very best. He enjoys working with the athletes and their families to promote the speediest full recovery possible by providing education about their injuries, developing exercise programs targeted to their specific needs and applying evidence-based care. Dr. Bucky attends annual conferences and meetings to certify that he is practicing with the most up to date treatments and recommendations based on the highest quality research.
Dr. Bucky has no one singular focus but rather takes pride in caring for a wide array of musculoskeletal and sports-related injuries and pains. Common conditions he treats range from ankle sprains to chronic low back pain to concussions and throwing injuries. He takes care of any nonsurgical conditions himself, often with the aid of some great physical therapists, and is able to evaluate for potential surgical conditions. He works closely with his surgical colleagues to ensure every patient will get the care they need.

Education is my passion, and I strive to promote better understanding of musculoskeletal problems among my patients, their families, and among the residents and fellows who rotate through my clinic.
My style of practice revolves primarily around ensuring that my patients and families understand the injury and/or pain so that we can all work together to create the best plan of action for the patient so that they may achieve their goals. I believe that my patients and their families better understand the source of pain when they see the injury on an X-ray or a 3D model, which helps them recover faster and stay healthy in the future.
Beyond my clinical practice, I am a lucky husband and in 2023 was blessed to welcome a baby girl to my family. When not in clinic, I prefer to be walking with my family and our dog, playing some kind of sport to get outside with friends and family, or watching some LSU baseball and football while cheering loudly.
Fun fact: My wife and I contributed to seismic activity in Baton Rouge when we attended a Garth Brooks concert in Tiger Stadium in what is known as "The Garthquake."
