Get to know Sarah J. Swartz, MD
Dr. Swartz provides care for children with all types of kidney disease and conditions including chronic kidney disease, end stage renal disease, dialysis, transplantation, renal failure from other diseases, nephrotic syndrome, kidney and urinary anomalies, and hypertension. As Medical Director of the Dialysis Unit, she focuses on providing comprehensive and individualized care centered not only on the medical aspects of care but also on the child’s development and growth. She is dedicated to provide the highest possible quality of care to children requiring dialysis. To this end she has developed multiple quality improvement initiatives for children with ESRD. Nationally, she is involved in the Children's Hospital Association Standardizing Care to Improve Outcomes in Pediatric ESRD (SCOPE) Collaborative, whose goal is to improve care and reduce infection rates in children on peritoneal and hemodialysis. She is also engaged on a national health care policy level advocating for pediatric patients with renal disease.
