[person:personal_statement]
In the early stages of my career, I honed my clinical expertise and leadership skills, earning a reputation as a trusted colleague and problem solver. As Division Chief of Pediatric Hospital Medicine at Texas Children’s, I guided the division through significant growth and effectively managed the talent so we consistently exceeded productivity targets and increased academic output. After stepping down as Division Chief in 2016, I focused on my professional interests, teaching bedside communication and improving care for children with behavioral health needs, leading to published work and recognition as a role model for other institutions. I represent Pediatric Hospital Medicine as we continue to collaborate with hospital administration on numerous different systemwide initiatives to improve the care we provide to hospitalized patients.
Additionally, I have prioritized finding joy in my work and helping others succeed. I now mentor and coach physicians and nonphysicians, helping them define success and achieve their goals. I find deep satisfaction in helping others connect with their intrinsic motivators. I earned the leadership coach certification through Rice University’s CoachRICE Program in 2024 to accentuate my coaching skills.
