Natalie M. Kovtun is a bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) at Texas Children’s Hospital. She is involved in evaluating and treating patients with complex medical diagnoses as part of various multidisciplinary teams, including Aerodigestive Program, Swallow Disorders Clinic, Head and Neck Tumor Program, and Trach/Vent Outpatient Clinic. In addition to her dynamic work in the areas of pediatric feeding and swallowing disorders, Natalie is passionate about her work in the area of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). She evaluates patients with a variety of medical diagnoses to determine if they can functionally access low or high technology communication systems to improve their expressive output and ultimately increase their participation in the home, school, and community.
In her role as Speech Therapy Coordinator, Natalie ensures patients and their families access the most efficient and appropriate care. She also educates providers and families on the role of SLPs and mentors team members in the areas of complex feeding and swallowing disorders and AAC.
Natalie’s philosophy of care focuses on providing skilled intervention that is rooted in evidence-based practice and that meets the clinical needs of her culturally and linguistically diverse patients and their families.
