Texas Children’s Hospital Lupus Clinic provides comprehensive, evidenced-based care to children and adolescents with juvenile onset systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and lupus spectrum disorders.

Immune Mediated Brain Disease Clinic

In this unique clinic, Dr. Eyal Muscal and consulting brain disease experts, including pediatric neurologists, psychiatrists and neuropsychologists assess children with neurologic dysfunction thought to be mediated by autoimmunity or immuno-dysregulation. The Immune Mediated Brain Disease Clinic focuses on autoimmune encephalitides, central nervous system (CNS) vasculitides, and systemic autoimmune/inflammatory disorders that affect the nervous system (such as lupus spectrum disorders, sarcoidosis and Behcet's disease).

Referrals are accepted from other pediatric rheumatologists, immunologists, neurologist, psychiatrist and pediatricians in the region as well as out of state. After a careful review of records, we bring together a collaborative team to assess the child and investigate potential immune system causes. An immunomodulatory therapy plan is provided once inflammatory brain disorder diagnosis is confirmed.
