Each patient will be thoroughly evaluated by an orthopedic provider who specializes in adolescent and young adult hip disorders. Diagnostic tests may include X-rays, MRI and CT scans. Once a specific diagnosis is made, your doctor may recommend either nonsurgical or surgical treatment options.

Nonsurgical treatment options focus on decreasing pain and inflammation and rehabilitating the muscles in and around the hip. These treatment options include the use of anti-inflammatory medications, diagnostic and therapeutic injections and physical therapy.

Surgical treatment options focus on preserving hip form and function. Hip clinic specialists are trained in the most advanced hip preservation surgical techniques designed to treat each specific diagnosis. These techniques include:

  • Hip arthroscopy
  • Hip arthrotomy
  • Surgical dislocation of the hip
  • Femoral and pelvic osteotomy
  • Periacetabular osteotomy
  • Core decompression
