Make a Difference

The Promise Campaign will expand our care to more children, and offer comfort to the people who love them.

The Autism Center at Texas Children's Hospital focuses on the care of children who have autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or who are suspected of having autism spectrum disorder.

The center provides diagnostic services for ASD and related conditions, as well as recommendations for treatment and resources to help families. Providers in the Autism Center often make referrals for subspecialty evaluation while also offering follow-up care to ensure their individual medical needs are being met.

The Autism Center is a multidisciplinary effort between the departments of Developmental Pediatrics, Neurology, Psychiatry, and Psychology. Working together, experts from these fields conduct extensive evaluations to form a diagnosis and a plan of intervention and therapy.

Common signs of autism spectrum disorder include problems with social interaction, problems communicating with others and playing at developmentally appropriate levels, and a tendency to repeat the same actions over and over again. Early diagnosis is important for children with autism so that specific life skills may be taught.
