Dr. Oscar Gonzalez is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 17 years of experience assisting families with psychosocial treatment coordination and psychotherapeutic counseling for depression, anxiety, suicide intervention and complex trauma. His use of evidence-based practices, such cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma informed care, has aided him in enhancing patient outcomes at Texas Children’s Pediatrics medical home settings where he previously oversaw the integrated behavioral health program (IBHP) and at Texas Children’s Hospital’s Neurology medical surgical unit working with patients and families at bedsides.
Dr. Gonzalez’s leadership roles have equipped him with a robust set of skills in department management, advanced quality improvement (AQI) and clinical supervision of future social workers both in Texas and in Florida. He has worked with the families and caregivers of children diagnosed with neurodevelopmental disorders. His commitment to social justice and equitable care underlies a career committed to improving the lives of pediatric neurology and behavioral health populations.
Personal Statement
I am committed in providing an optimal patient-centered care experience through a collaborative journey that relies on actively listening and understanding the complex lived experiences of my patients and families. It is my belief that by using a humanistic approach in counseling, families will be able to feel empowered, overcome adversity and regain a sense of psychological and physical safety.
