Personal Statement

My first exposure to Congenital Heart Surgery was during my training as a physician assistant. I immediately found it to be a captivating specialty, one where many specialties all come together to provide excellent care to some of the hospital’s most critical patients. Upon graduation, I started as part of the Texas Children’s Physician Assistant Fellowship. This additional year of clinic training provided a wealth of knowledge and time to work with a wide variety of pediatric surgical specialties throughout the Texas Children’s system. I continued to have great passion for congenital heart surgery and was thrilled to be able to join the team following completion of my fellowship in 2023.

My role as a congenital heart surgery advance practice provider means I follow our patients from start to finish. I often see patients in consult with the surgeon, throughout their admission and into the post-operative period. I can often be seen throughout the Heart Center updating families during surgery, removing surgical hardware and rounding with our surgeons. It is fantastic watching the progression and improvement in our patients following surgery. I also have an interest in the lifelong progression of congenital heart disease and am a part of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease surgical team.
