About
I consider it a privilege to have the opportunity to work at the Texas Medical Center with pediatric patients and their families. I became a nurse in 2000 and throughout the years have sought to improve my ability to teach and serve as a role model for individuals seeking to learn more about the advanced practice provider profession. My experience has included PICU bedside and transport nursing. A strong believer in being a life-long learner, I became a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in 2005, a Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in 2008, and I completed my Doctorate in 2018. Today, I am the Director of Critical Care Medicine Advanced Practice Practitioners for Baylor College of Medicine at Texas Children’s Hospital and an Associate Chief in the Section of Critical Care Medicine.
The talented group of Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) I lead, known as Critical Care Medicine Advanced Practice Providers (CCM APPs), provide patient care and learning opportunities for Baylor College of Medicine Residents, Nurse Practitioner Students, and PA Fellows. Additionally, the group supports observerships for individuals interested in becoming Physician Assistants. Within my role, I collaborate with the Advanced Practice Leadership at Texas Children’s Hospital and work towards common goals within the organization. Overall, working to improve the health of critically ill children alongside colleagues from multiple disciplines who are dedicated to delivering quality, innovative care is extremely rewarding.
Clinical Interests:
I am interested in quality improvement through evidence-based practice. My clinical interests include tracheostomy education, infection prevention, and narcotic and iatrogenic withdrawal prevention.
Research Interests:
Optimization of methods for iatrogenic withdrawal prevention
