Personal Statement
As a provider who has lived with type 1 diabetes since childhood, my goal is to speak to patients and families from a place of understanding and personal experience and to serve as a positive role model for children learning to accept and manage chronic conditions.
Whether newly diagnosed, already a pro, trying to get back on track with diabetes care, or anywhere in between, I believe it’s important to meet my patients and families where they are so we can work together to fit diabetes into their healthy and active lives. For those who use or who want to learn more, I am also a big proponent of diabetes technology.
Clinical Interests:
Type 1 diabetes, diabetes technology (CGM, pumps, closed loop systems), sports/athletics with diabetes, monogenic diabetes (aka MODY), type 2 diabetes, nutrition and diabetes, atypical diabetes, health equity and diabetes, diabetes in preschool age children, and cystic fibrosis-related diabetes (CFRD)
Research Interests:
Diabetes technology, advanced glycation end products and T1D, insulin resistance in T1D, cardiovascular risk reduction in T1D, adjunct therapies in youth with T1D
