For many children, coming to the doctor is an uncomfortable and apprehensive experience. It is my job not only to treat and diagnose my patients correctly but to also make them feel that they are safe and secure under my care. Taking the time to slow down in your day to acknowledge that a child is in front of you, scared and unsure of the unknown, is a vital part for any health care provider who works in the pediatric world. At the end of the day, a child is not simply a little adult. They do require a softer touch, a gentler voice and a little more explanation.
