About
My portfolio includes clinical practice in sexual development disorders, puberty, congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH), growth, and pediatric diabetes. Additionally, I established one of the first gender medicine multidisciplinary teams to care for children born with disorders of sexual development (DSD) and collaborated on studies investigating the use of insulin pumps in toddlers with type 1 diabetes.
Clinical Research in Gender Medicine
This is a clinical program for individuals with issues of sexual development associated with conditions ranging from CAH to androgen insensitivity to gonadal dysgenesis. These disorders involve discordances between phenotype and genotype. Our clinical program has a multidisciplinary team and provides state-of-the art care that includes educating the parents to involve them in the decision-making process, counseling, and continuing support and opportunities for cross-divisional research and development of practice guidelines. We also work with fellows on clinical guidelines and outcomes. Our philosophy of care includes supporting these patients at different periods of their development and helping them make transitions from pediatric to adult care. This team has laid the foundation for the development of clinical protocols, collaborative studies, standard of care for DSD, and clinical practice guidelines and outcomes in the area of DSD.
