About
Kate Mazur is the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for the Developmental Therapeutics Program at Texas Children’s Cancer Center, where she focuses on clinical research and the development of novel agents to treat childhood cancers. She is particularly interested in patients with brain tumors and solid tumors, as well as the incorporation of palliative and supportive care into the treatment of patients with cancer.
Ms. Mazur holds individual memberships in the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), as well as the Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium (PBTC), and is actively involved with the nursing discipline for both groups. She also holds the first nurse practitioner position on the Planning Committee for the American Society for Pediatric Hematology/Oncology (ASPHO). Additionally, Ms. Mazur is a member of the Data Review Committee at Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Centers, where she participates in the safety monitoring of internally-initiated studies.
Ms. Mazur holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Michigan and graduated nursing school from Columbia University, where she completed a sub-specialty program in Pediatric Oncology.
Ms. Mazur was the 2013 recipient of the Dr. Marilyn Hockenberry Award for Advanced Practice Provider Excellence in Clinical Practice, Education, and Research at Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Centers.
She is board certified by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB).
