About
Dr. Jenny Despotovic is director of the Hematology Center. Her clinical interests include: immunohematology, immune cytopenias, neonatal hematology, and platelet disorders.
She is the editor of the textbook, “Immune Hematology: Diagnosis and Management of Autoimmune Cytopenias,” which was published in the summer of 2018 by Springer. Despotovic developed all the content and selected the authors for the textbook.
Dr. Jenny Despotovic's research is focused on improved understanding of the pathophysiology of pediatric immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). She is currently working on several clinical and translational projects related to efficacy and safety of novel ITP treatments in children, as well as investigating the mechanisms of response and toxicity in commonly used ITP treatments.
Dr. Despotovic is particularly interested in investigating the development of chronic ITP in children, as well as expanding treatment options for refractory patients.
She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
