Dr. Lasa's clinical interest is in critical care for pediatric patients with cardiovascular disease, both congenital and acquired. His research interests center on improving clinical outcomes of pediatric patients who've undergone cardiac surgery as well as patients who've suffered a cardiopulmonary arrest. Prior investigations have explored the physiology of congenital heart disease in the fetus as well as racial and ethnic disparities in outcomes after cardiac surgery. Specific interests include the physiology of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in patients with congenital heart disease, the impact of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation on CPR decision making, and improving survival outcomes after CPR in the pediatric population.
