About
Since childhood I always knew I wanted to be a pediatric nurse. After witnessing a close family member battle ovarian cancer, I became more interested women’s healthcare. I chose to become a women’s health NP and focus on pediatric adolescent gynecology because it is a perfect combination of both of my interests.
A girl’s first gynecology visit can be such a scary experience. It is my goal to make each girl feel as confortable as possible and to create a non-judgmental environment so that my patients can be open about their health concerns, ask questions, etc.
I enjoy seeing patients with multiple chronic conditions and working with other TCH specialty departments in order to provide the most comprehensive care. Some of the gynecologic conditions I specialize in treating are polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis/menstrual pain, & hematologic bleeding disorders that often present when girls have their first period. I also like contraceptive counseling in order to help prevent teen pregnancy.
Once or twice a month I see girls in our Young Women’s Bleeding Disorders Clinic, a joint program with Hematology and Pediatric Adolescent Gynecology. I recently completed a research study in conjunction with Dr. Jennifer Dietrich, Dr. Lakshmi Srivaths and several other physicians that focused on analyzing the gynecologic complications in women and adolescents with and without bleeding disorders. I received the Young Researcher Award by the World Federation of Hemophilia for this study.
When I am not caring for teen girls, you will likely find me exercising, cooking, or traveling. I am from Ohio so I love going home to visit my family and be an aunt to my wonderful nephew.
