About
Hannah Helber is a certified genetic counselor for the Hematology Center at Texas Children's Hospital.
As a genetic counselor in the Hematology Clinic, she works to identify families at risk for inherited hematologic conditions. She provides education on genetics, as well as discussing options for appropriate genetic testing, based on family history and each patients' medical concerns. She coordinates with the family throughout the genetic testing process and helps patient and family members understand the results.
Ms. Helber aims to balance the medical, social, logistical, and emotional needs of the patient surrounding the genetic testing process and their diagnosis. She finds it incredibly rewarding to support families through this process and to be part of their care team during what can be a difficult and emotional time.
Prior to joining the Cancer and Hematology Center, she was class president of the Genetic Counseling Program at Baylor College of Medicine (September 2018 - June 2020) and a student representative for the Baylor College of Medicine Student Disabilities Committee (September 2018 - June 2020).
